Facebook Search Engine - Future planning

It is True that Facebook is reportedly planning to create a new search engine which would help people to navigate on the website better.
According to times of India

A Bloomberg Businessweek report said the firm has deployed two-dozen Facebook engineers onto the ambitious project, which aims to improve the search engine currently available on the social network.

According to the report, the project is led by former Google engineer Lars Rasmussen.

The magazine's unnamed sources said that the project is "to help users better sift through the volume of content that members create on the site, such as status updates, and the articles, videos, and other information across the Web that people "like" using Facebook's omnipresent thumbs-up button".

According to The Telegraph, Facebook has done very little to improve its search engine, which currently lets people find other users, brands, status updates and some wider web results, through a long-standing partnership with Microsoft's search engine, Bing.

It has yet to properly focus its attention on the small search engine box situated at the top of each users' page.

Meanwhile, Facebook has declined to comment on the matter.

Let we wait what happens in the Future.

Facebook launced new 'Zero' site for mobile phones

One Interesting news regarding facebook is that  It has launched a new Zero Site. This may be very good new to the person who use Facebook in their mobile. About 10 billion are using facebook from mobile and the rest are from PC and other devices.

Facebook is releasing new Facebook zero mobile version. Facebook are supporting to the mobile facebook users. We can easily use this site which can be fit and fine to your mobile screen. It doesn't takes enough memory. This is faster and perfect than before.

When you visit the URL zero.facebook.com using your mobile’s browser, you’ll see a notice that your carrier does not yet support the service. Obviously because it was just launched and operators have yet to sign up.

"Zero is a light-weight version of m.facebook.com that omits data intensive applications like Photos," said Facebook rep Brandee Barker. "It will launch in coming weeks and we are discussing it at MWC as an option to make Facebook on the mobile web available to everyone, anywhere and allow operators to encourage more mobile Internet usage."

Facebook will fix these unexpected errors soon. Happy using Facebook zero site.

Google started to Indexes Facebook Comments

A recent technology related news is that That Googlebots, or the spiders that crawl web pages,  are now reading Facebook comments on websites just like any other text content and the more interesting part is that you can also search the text of these comments using regular Google search.

in most of the cases it is not possible cause they use <iframe> tag to show the post hence Search Engine can't read the comments.

That seems to have changed recently at least in the case of Google. [Update] This was later confirmed by Matt Cutts – “Googlebot keeps getting smarter. Now has the ability to execute AJAX/JavaScript to index some dynamic comments.”

To give you an example, here’s a comment from Robert Scoble that he has previously written on a TechCrunch page using the Facebook comments system..

.and here’s the same comment available through Google web search. You can in fact use search queries like “commenter name * commenter title” (for example – “Robert Scoble * Chief Learning Officer at Rackspace”) to discover all comments that he or she may have written on various websites that use the Facebook comments platform.
If you have so far avoided using Facebook comments on your website /blog just because of the SEO factor, you may want to reconsider your decision now.
However I am not too sure if Google would pass any juice to any of the website links that some people may be dropping in your comments. Also, moderation of Facebook Comments is all the more important now as the comment text is part of the page content itself and you don’t want to be in violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines just because of those angry comments that do not use very civilized language.
